  • Margaret Thatcher was up every day at 5 a.m.
  • Frank Lloyd Wright at 4 am and
  • Robert Iger, the CEO of Disney wakes at 4:30am
  • Apple CEO Tim Cook is known for getting up and sending out company emails at 4:30 in the morning
  • New Jersey Nets CEO Brett Yormark youngest CEO in the NBA told SellingPower that he gets up at 3:30 in the morning in order to get to the office by 4:30. From there, he works out and sends motivational emails to his team.
  • Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz starts his day with a workout, which is usually a bike ride with his wife, but still gets to the office by 6 a.m

  • I enjoy those morning when I wake up really early and I’m wide awake. It’s that 60 seconds when you have to decide to get up, or roll over. I still fight that moment. I find it easier if I make the decision the night before.

    I tell my self that if I wake up at 4:30 or later, I am getting up. That way, I don’t have to make the decision in the morning because I’ve already told myself what to expect.

    The other thing I find helpful is to write out my task list the night before. This way I know exactly what needs to be done the next day and I can get up and get going. It removes one more excuse.

    Admittedly, I can see the benefits of early rising. However, no one ever gives the other end of the spectrum. What time do early risers go to bed?! Personally, I just would like to have a more complete picture of the process. Certainly, we know that early rising doesn’t begin with the pre-dawn of tomorrow, but at the setting sun of today. Anyone care to share their bed time(s)? Thanks!
