Are you constantly reaching for the step stool or some chair to stand on for those hard to reach hanging plants. Just use some ice cubes. Toss several cubes into the pots. The ice melts and waters the plants and does it without causing a sudden downpour from the drain hole!

2. Remove Dents In Carpeting

You know when you move your¬†furniture¬†and how it can leave those ugly dents in your carpet? Well…you can use ice cubes to remove them. Just put an ice cube on the spot where the heavy¬†furniture¬†was – let it melt – then just brush up the dent. Done

3. Smooth Caulk Seams

Ever tried to caulk around the bathtub and the caulk starts to get messy and sticking to your finger as you try to smooth it out. This can be annoying and get messy in hurry. You can solve this problem by running an ice cube along the caulk line. This forms the caulk into a nice even bead and the caulk will never stick to the ice cube. Worth a try right!?

4. Iron Out Wrinkles

Have a shirt that is crazy full of wrinkles and no time to wash it again? Turn on the iron and wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth. Rub over the wrinkle just before you iron and the shirt will smooth out.

5. Mask The Taste Of Medicine

Do you ever have trouble getting your children to take medicine like I do? You can’t blame them. Some of that stuff tastes¬†awful¬† Try this: Have them suck on an ice cube before taking the medicine. This numbs the taste buds and allows the medicine to go down – even without the spoonful of sugar.

6. Pluck A Splinter

Removing a splinter from a fidgeting screaming toddler can be a nightmare (I used to be one Рsorry mom). Before grabbing the needle or tweezers Рgrab an ice cube and numb the area first. This should make the removal process more painless and quick!

7. Prevent A Blister From A Burn

Instead of rushing to the faucet to run cold water of that burn grab an ice cube and apply it to the burn. This should stop it from blistering.

8. Cool Water For Your Pets

Do you ever wonder why your pet prefers to drink from the toilet instead of his own bowl. Other than just being nasty they prefer the coolness of the water. Imagine wearing your coat in the heat of summer and then being offered a glass of lukewarm water. Give your pet a treat every so often by dumping a few ice cubes in their water – especially after those long summer walks.

Have¬†¬†you¬†one of your kids ever managed to get gum stuck on their clothing? Don’t panic and try to rip it off. That will only make the sticky mess worse. Instead grab an ice cube. Rub the ice on the gum to harden it, then scrape it off with a spoon. This works on carpet too!

10. Clean Your Garbage Disposal

Your garbage disposal may not be working at its optimum level because of grease or other buildup. Ice cubes can help this too. Throw some down the disposal and grind them up. The grease will cling to the ice, making the disposal residue-free.

11. Make A Creamy Salad Dressing

Want to make your homemade salad dressing as smooth as those at the restaurant? Try this: Put all the dressing ingredients in a jar with a lid, then add a single ice cube. Close the lid and shake vigorously. Spoon out the ice cube and serve. Your guests will be amazed at how creamy your dressing is.

12. Remove Fat  From Soup And Stews

Did you know that you can actually remove fat from your homemade soup pretty quickly? Fill a metal ladle with ice cubes and skim the bottom of the ladle over the top of the liquid in the soup pot. Fat will collect on the ladle.

13. Reheat Rice

Leftover rice is just not the same. You know how its all dry and stuff – well try putting an ice cube on top of the rice when you put it in the microwave. The ice cube will melt as the rice reheats, giving the rice a much-needed moisture.

  • Hi Joe!

Was wondering if you own the photo of the ice cubes? We’re looking for representative photos that we can use in a physics book we are developing for high school students.

Let me know if we need a license or if we can use it. Kindly send me an email, if possible!

    Hope to hear from you.
