30 Lifehacks To Make Life Easier

Ok so if you haven’t noticed by now I have a slight addiction to collecting these little tips and tricks for things. Some people call them lifehacks. Whatever you want to call them one thing is for sure – they make life just a little easier.

You probably won’t use all of these but my hope is that 1 or 2 of them might be incredibly useful for you. I’ve also included links to some of the most popular “Tips & Tricks” posts at the bottom so be sure to scroll all the way down.

  • Wrap tools in adhesive tape to get a better grip on the handle.

  • Clean your coffeemaker by dropping 4 alka-seltzer in the water chamber and brew.

  • Catch ice cream cone drips by wrapping the bottom of the cone in aluminum foil.

  • Brighten up white shoes by rubbing them with a cloth dipped in half ammonia – half water.

  • Keep cake fresh twice as long by storing it with half an apple.

  • Dry up pimples by by crushing 1 aspirin and moistening with a bit of water. Apply to pimple for 2 minutes and rinse.

  • Reduce the gas properties of baked beans by adding a pinch of baking soda.

  • Brighten up house plants by wiping off their leaves with the inside of a banana peel. It’ll remove the gunk and bring back shine.

  • Soften up tough meat with beer. Just pour a can over it for an hour before cooking.

  • Kill those pesky weeds in walkways by pouring a bit of bleach over them. Easily pull them out a day later.

  • Remove bumper stickers with a blow-dryer. Move the dryer back n forth until hot then peel up from the corner.

  • Clean walls by rubbing the dirty area with a slice of white bread.

  • Keep soft-drink cans colder on hot days by wrapping them in bubble wrap.

  • Make your own X-mas tree stand by filling an empty bucket partway with sand or gravel and insert the base of the tree in it. Fill the rest of the way and pour water on the sand or gravel to help keep the tree from drying out.

  • Swallow pills easier by rolling them in a small amount of butter first. The pills will slide right down.

  • Stick a button or paperclip to the end of the tape roll so you never have to find that elusive end.

  • Quite a squeaky door by rubbing a candle over the hinge surfaces that touch each other. The door will squeak no more.

  • Use a large cardboard box to pull a load of firewood over the snow. Kids will love a ride too.

  • Store extension cords in a used toilet paper tube to keep them tangle free.

  • Keep your bathroom mirror fog free by applying a small amount of car wax to the mirror and buff with a soft cloth. No more fog.

  • Keep a good-sized carpet scrap in your trunk to add traction if stuck in the snow. Works great if you have a flat tire too. You won’t have to kneel or lie on the dirty ground when you have to look under the carriage.

  • Get rid of moles with caster oil. Mix 1/2 cup castor oil and 2 gallons water. Drench the molehill with it. It will get them looking for a new home.

  • Sprinkle some cat litter into the bottom of garbage cans to keep them smelling fresh.

  • Rub some chalk on the blade of your screwdriver if it keeps slipping when tightening a screw.

  • Remove moisture and bad bathroom odors by hiding a few pieces of charcoal in the nooks and crannies of your bathroom. They will soak up the moisture and the bad smells. Replace every couple months.

  • Remove calluses by coating them with chest rub and cover with a band aide overnight. Repeat for a couple days and they will be gone.

  • Settle your stomach and soothe heartburn by chewing a piece of spearmint gum.

  • Hang a clipboard inside a kitchen cabinet or pantry door and use the clamp as a convenient space-saving way to store your place mats.

  • Use a clothespin or binder clip to clip one side of a leaf bag to a chain-link fence or other convenient site to help keep the bag open for easy filling.

  • De-fog your windshield: Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
