Tom Cruise is one of the most popular actors in America today.

Tom-Cruise-Childhood-Photo What many people don’t know is that Cruise has dyslexia. Dyslexia is a neurological condition that distorts, confuses, the way printed words appear on the page.

As a child, Cruise worked hard to compensate for this difference in learning styes  but because of his family’s frequent moves, he constantly faced new schools where they were unfamiliar with his reading disability.

At one of the high schools he attended, Cruise won the lead role in Guys and Dolls. He felt at home onstage, and he know then he had found the profession for which he was destined. He would eventually come to be known as one of Hollywood’s hardest-working actors.

In each of his roles, Cruise works hard to portray his characters physically as well as psychologically. He spends countless hours learning the speech and body language appropriate for his characters. A producer once said about him,

“His road was never paved. It was always full of potholes, and he jumped over all of them.”

Nobody lucks into a successful career. When we get excited about what we are doing and work hard at it, our talents will find us opportunities.
